Bobby Frith Solo
In my solo act, I primarily perform well-known covers, which I select based on the space, audience, and occasion. I maintain an extensive catalog of material, which includes classic rock, country, pop hits, bluegrass and folk standards, and my own original songs. I am firstly a guitarist and singer/songwriter, and my playing and singing are central to the act, which also incorporates electronic elements, including samples, loops, and effects. I use these to create rich, dynamic, and detailed arrangements, with the primary intention of maximizing engagement of my audience and crafting unique and memorable sets, best suited for each event.

The form that my solo act takes can vary considerably based on the setting. These variations can be understood in two basic categories: as artist and as entertainer.
As an entertainer, my primary goal when I perform is to increase the value of a space by my presence — to facilitate guests' enjoyment, to make them feel comfortable and happy, to make them want to stay longer and return later. I believe that businesses that host live music can and should expect to see tangible and measurable benefits, in the form of increased revenue, as a direct result of hosting live music. I consider this result to be the measure of success for my events, success which comes in service to my broader objectives: to be invited back, and to develop mutually beneficial relationships with a growing network of people and businesses.
As an artist, my primary goal when I perform is to, very simply, express my art. I express my art through melody, harmony, rhythm and groove, composition and arrangement, lyrics and storytelling, all these things together forming my medium: song. A decade of work with this medium has deepened my passion, strengthened my skills, and provided me with a vast repertoire of material, covering a wide expanse of eras, genres, and styles, which I use as the basis for crafting unique, tailored sets to best suit the event. I am constantly updating, improving the act, learning new songs and creating arrangements to perform, as well as writing and composing my own original songs. Sharing, expanding, and advancing this medium is my life’s work, and it is my great joy and pleasure to express my art.
These are the dual aspects of my process. As an artist, my concern is with realizing my creative vision by crafting performances that are engaging to myself. As an entertainer, my concern is with ensuring that my performance is engaging to my audience, which is most important in fulfilling the business objectives, including to produce those tangible and measurable benefits, which justify the expenditure on the part of those people and businesses who host me.
